Industry sources have told USGNN that PPG has sent out a letter stating that
it is rescinding the $100 diesel fuel surcharge that was supposed to go into effect
the beginning of this week and instead is raising glass prices 3 percent across
the board.
AFG Industries Inc. sent out a letter dated last Friday that announced a 3-percent
glass increase effective May 16.
The 3-percent increases match the action taken by Guardian Industries Corp.
last month.
This leaves Pilkington North American as the only primary glass manufacturer
that is currently scheduled to impose a diesel fuel surcharge. Its change is slated
to go into effect the same day as the increases, May 16.
