Venice, Fla.-based Seasonshield Inc. has announced that it has
installed an in-house UVEKOL glass lamination line from Surface
Specialties UCB. Seasonshield, a producer of vinyl-framed, high-impact
resistant windows and doors, said that the line will bring the
company up to 40 percent in cost savings, as well as greater control
over quality, lead times and waste.
According to information from Seasonshield, the UVEKOL glass
lamination process is based on solvent-free, low pressure, low
energy UV curing technology, which allows for substantial reductions
in start-up and in ongoing energy costs when compared to traditional
glass lamination.
"We were attracted by the ease of the one-component system,
the speed of production, low capital expenditure and expandability,"
said Chuck Kowalski, operations manager. "Start-up has been
as simple as advertised, and we are already achieving production
levels of around 1,000 square feet per shift. The target, however,
is to reach 1,500 square feet and we are working with Surface
Specialties UCB to achieve this."
