SAFTI Introduces Clear Fire and Safety Rated Ceramic Glazing

SAFTI, a San-Francisco-based manufacturer of fire rated glass and framing, has introduced SuperLite-C™, a new product line featuring four ceramic glazings rated from 20 minutes to 3 hours. According to a company press release, the product line is tested with Intertek/Warnock Hersey and passes the hose stream test.

The 3/16-inch clear ceramic glazings are available in large sizes up to 44 inches by 79 inches and are being promoted as fitting in any fire-rated framing system, including fire rated steel, wood and aluminum frames. Also according to the press release, those on which safety film has been applied—the SuperLite-C/S™ and SuperLiteC/SP™—meet “the highest federal impact safety standard.”

Through the press release, the company acknowledges that SuperLite-C “are not barriers to radiant heat” and do not meet test standards ASTM E119 or UL263, advising that the product not be used in applications rated more than 45-minutes, other than door vision panels.
