SAFTI, a San-Francisco-based manufacturer of fire rated glass and framing,
has introduced SuperLite-C, a new product line featuring four ceramic glazings
rated from 20 minutes to 3 hours. According to a company press release, the product
line is tested with Intertek/Warnock Hersey and passes the hose stream test.
The 3/16-inch clear ceramic glazings are available in large sizes up to 44
inches by 79 inches and are being promoted as fitting in any fire-rated framing
system, including fire rated steel, wood and aluminum frames. Also according to
the press release, those on which safety film has been appliedthe SuperLite-C/S
and SuperLiteC/SPmeet the highest federal impact safety standard.
Through the press release, the company acknowledges that SuperLite-C are
not barriers to radiant heat and do not meet test standards ASTM E119 or
UL263, advising that the product not be used in applications rated more than 45-minutes,
other than door vision panels.
