Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries has announced that it has completed the integration
of Megaflon® MC and Megaflon® EX factory-applied coatings into the company's
new Coraflon® brand of architectural coatings. These products, which were
part of PPG's acquisition of Keeler & Long several years ago, will now be
known as Coraflon® MC and Coraflon® EX, respectively. The launch of the
newly combined product line took place at the Construction Specifications Institute
show in April and at the American Institute of Architects show in May.
Keith Prins, general manager for PPG Industrial Finishes, says the integration
of the two product lines will strengthen the Coraflon brand while offering architects
an expanded range of complementary coatings technologies.
The product line now encompasses three primary products. Coraflon MC coil coatings
are designed for use over properly cleaned and treated aluminum or clad steel
substrates. They offer strong field recoatability, resistance to marring and abrasion
and low maintenance.
Coraflon EX spray-applied extrusion coatings provide a colorful, high-gloss,
automotive-quality finish to pre-formed architectural aluminum building products.
These products offer strong adhesion to aluminum substrates and meet all AAMA
2605 standards for weatherability and chemical resistance.
Coraflon ADS field-applied spray coatings are optimal for the restoration of
weathered architectural metals and can be used on curtain wall, aluminum windows,
doors, roofs and building panels. The coatings feature low volatile organic compounds,
so may be applied in most regions.
