NFRC
Considering IG Certification
The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) has announced that
it will hold an open forum at its next membership meeting to consider
requiring that participants in the NFRC Product Certification Program
be required to also participate in a program for certifying the
seal durability in insulating glass units (IGU).
The next membership meeting will take place November 6-9, 2006,
at the Doubletree Hotel Crystal City in Washington, D.C. The open
forum is currently scheduled for Wednesday, November 8.
"Many of our members and stakeholders have expressed concern
about long-term performance issues, and we want to discuss IGU seal
durability certification as a possible solution," said Jim
Benney, NFRC's executive director. "We want to stress that
this is a proposal only, and we look forward to receiving feedback
from interested parties at our next meeting."
