New
Paint Finishing Line to Boost Fabricator and Finisher's Productivity
Southern Aluminum Finishing Company (SAF) has announced a new paint
finishing line designed especially for architectural panels and
assemblies. The paint line has been installed in its fabrication
center in Georgia to facilitate speedy turnaround of fabricated
panels and parts.
The
line can handle piece sizes up to 3 feet by 8 feet by 24 feet, and
is automated with integral parts dry-off and curing ovens to speed
up the curing process. SAF expects lead times to be reduced as painting
capacity more than doubles and material doesn't have to be shuttled
between facilities. The line is designed to minimize the possibility
of cross contamination in the oven and reduce debris in the finish.
The line is approved for application of all major Kynar/Hylar based
finishes, including: Duranar®, Fluropon®, Fluropon Classic®,
and Sunstorm®.
Additionally, the new SAF paint line has environmental innovations,
featuring one of the lowest environmental footprints in the country.
A zero discharge pre-treat system is designed to meet or exceed
upcoming EPA requirements. SAF has also implemented a Chrome Chromate
pretreatment to facilitate the need of its customer's to have alodine
pretreated material for adhesion purposes.
"We have become one of the only architectural fabricators that
can apply extreme performance architectural paints in the same facility
with state of the art fabrication. This reduces both transportation
costs and lead times. This reinforces our goal to be the fastest
producer of every product we sell and to offer a package of capability,
quality, price, and lead time that is second to none," states
Jim McClatchey, Vice President.
