New MaxBlock Sunshades by Tubelite® Maximize Energy
Efficiency
Tubelite Inc. recently introduced MaxBlock Sunshades to reduce solar
heat gain by shading vision glass areas while allowing natural daylighting.
According to the company, the use of MaxBlock Sunshades can significantly lower
building cooling costs and energy use attributed to air conditioning and can contribute
to LEED Program points--specifically, for reducing building energy costs for cooling
while supplementing interior lighting (Energy & Atmosphere Credit 1, 1-10
Points).
MaxBlock Sunshades are designed for use with Tubelite 200 Series and 400 Series
Curtainwalls and are available in a variety of styles to match any building. Finishes
are available to match or contrast with Tubelite Curtainwall framing.
Three outrigger types with corresponding louver styles and facia caps are available--airfoil,
blade and tubular. Each type can be extended from the building in projections
of 20-, 25-, 30-, and 35 inches to provide the desired shade performance.
Blades are attached to the outriggers using simple screw spline connections
for ease of installation at the job site. A unique, easy-to-install outrigger
bracket fastens at the pressure plate area and allows removal of individual sections
for reglazing without affecting the wall system.
