Kawneer Introduces the Paneline ® EL Exit Device

Kawneer Company Inc., a manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for commercial construction, has introduced the Paneline® EL (Electric Latch) Exit Device.

Paneline® EL incorporates the added security of controlled user access with Kawneer's popular Paneline® design, which attractively integrates a concealed exit device, door cross rail and full width push pad.

Available for new applications or as a retrofit to existing Paneline® doors (manufactured after 1989), Kawneer touts the EL device as ideal for use in commercial buildings, especially offices, or anywhere that security is a top priority. The company also says the narrow lines of the Paneline® EL blend well with a wide range of entrance structures and architectural styles. The actuating panel recesses into the cross rail of the door when in the open position, simulating the appearance of a streamlined push plate. In the latched position, the panel protrudes only 1-1/8 inches from the door - when manually operated the pad retracts to approximately a 1/4" projection.

The Paneline® EL can operate as a stand-alone system, or can be integrated into a building access control system. It is compatible with a broad selection of devices, including keypads, card readers and biometric scanners, to offer total access control, down to the hour of the day that individuals are allowed or denied access. An optional backup battery system provides controlled access and egress are functional at all times, even during power losses.

Paneline® EL is available on Kawneer's 190 Narrow Stile, 350 Medium Stile, 500 Wide Stile, 350 Heavy Wall™, Tuffline® and Flushline® Entrances. The power transfer option includes either an Electric Power Transfer (EPT) device, EL butt hinge or EL offset pivot. Paneline® EL is listed with Underwriters Laboratory (UL) for certified performance and is backed by the standard Kawneer two-year warranty. The push panel and CPN style pull are available in clear, black or dark bronze anodize finishes. The push panel inlay strip is black with clear letters on clear finish doors and light bronze with black letters on black or dark bronze finish doors.
