JPS Industries Inc. of Greenville, S.C., a manufacturer of extruded urethanes,
polypropylenes and mechanically-formed glass substrates for specialty industrial
applications, announced that it has changed the name of its JPS Glass division
to JPS Composite Materials Corp. JPS Glass was the sole operating entity of JPS
Industries' wholly owned subsidiary JPS Converter and Industrial Corp. The new
JPS Composite Materials Corp. name replaces both prior names.
Gary Wallace, president of JPS Composite Materials Corp., stated, "The
JPS Glass name has served us well and we are proud of our many accomplishments.
While that name once described our mission well, our company and our markets continue
to evolve. JPS Composite Materials Corp. more accurately reflects who we have
become and better indicates our commitment to continue to make the process and
product changes necessary to meet the new and diverse technical demands of today's
and tomorrow's market place."
Michael L. Fulbright, chairperson, president and chief executive officer of
JPS Industries Inc., stated, "When we recast JPS Industries several years
ago, we determined that JPS Glass would be a key component in our strategy to
build a company focused on serving specialty industrial markets. Their commitment
to customer satisfaction, quality products, technical innovation and ability to
adapt to market forces and changes is captured very well in their new nameplate.
Today we see even more potential for the second half of this decade with JPS Composite
Materials than was the case at the beginning of 2000 with JPS Glass."
