ICC Appeals Board Denies Wired Glass Appeal

The appeals board of the International Code Council (ICC) yesterday heard and denied an appeal filed on behalf of wired glass manufacturers that would have affected the International Building Code (IBC). The denial lets stand a decision last May that had prohibited the use of polished wired glass in fire doors and windows and view panels in hazardous locations unless it complied with CPSC 16 CFR 1201.

The ICC appeals board denied the appeal by a 3-0 vote. The appeals board recommendation will next be presented to the ICC board during a board of directors meeting in two weeks. According to sources, the wired glass industry is considering a hearing before the ICC board.
