Harmon Inc. Opens "Center of Excellence" For Manufacturing Impact-Resistant Curtainwall

Harmon Inc. has relocated its Boynton Beach, Fla., location, nearly doubling the space of its previous facility. Harmon says the move represents its pilot location that will serve as its first Center of Excellence, which will apply Lean processes, controls and oversight to further increase predictability for scheduling. In addition, Harmon said the center will serve as its primary fabricator of its hurricane impact curtainwall systems for single- and multi-span commercial building applications.

"We're setting a hallmark for the company and the move to the larger location accommodates more growth, improves workflow and enhances communication to better share the knowledge and experience of all our staff in sales, estimating, engineering, project management, fabrication, installation, renovation and contract service," said Mike Thomas, value stream manager overseeing the Center of Excellence and the Boynton Beach operations. "In alliance with our Orlando and Tampa locations, the Center of Excellence demonstrates our continued investment in serving the unique glazing needs of the Southeastern region's contractors, architects and building owners."
