Guardian Industries Inaugurates Glass Plant In England

Guardian Industries Corp. of Auburn Hills, Mich., officially inaugurated its float plant in Goole, England on March 3.

William Davidson, Guardian president and chief executive officer, welcomed His Royal Highness, the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, as well as a large number of customers and suppliers to the glass manufacturing facility. Prince Andrew is the U.K.'s special representative for international trade and investment.

"Guardian's philosophy is to market its glass products through independent fabricators and distributors," said Davidson. "Our new British float glass facility should significantly increase our ability to support our growing customers in this region."

The British facility began production in November 2003, and represents an investment of more than $180 million by Guardian. The plant employs more than 200 people and runs 365 days a year. It produces about 700 tons of float glass daily.
