GPD Returns to China in 2006

The Glass Processing Days Conference returns to China in conjunction with the China Glass Expo in Beijing in April 2006. The GPD has become the place where new developments are presented and where the glass community networks build a foundation for continuous cooperation and development. The idea of an open exchange of specialist views on technology, applications and business outlooks has proven to be of unique value to the glass business worldwide. The GPD has thus become a trendsetter for the industry.

China Glass is scheduled for April 25-28. The GPD seminar will be held immediately before that to ensure that effective participation in both events is possible.

This time there will be two parallel sessions, one very practical for processing and business purposes and the other on markets and construction trends, tailored for top management, says Jorma Vitkala, Chairman of the Conference organizing Committee.

The main theme is the use of high-quality safety glass in buildings to improve energy management, safety and security. The fast economic development in China, booming construction and the overall expansion of business and technology make it very important for international business community to keep its eyes and ears closely to this market.

The program also includes factory visits to local Chinese-owned glass industries to familiarize participants with the practical implications of market-oriented glass production in China today. The main supporter of the GPD, Tamglass Ltd, has operated its assembly unit in China for a number of years now and thus built up a state-of-the-art understanding of the local market mechanism.

The GPD seminar now welcomes speakers on special subjects to China. Lecturers are invited to submit proposals for addresses in the form of abstracts to the Organizing Committee.

The addresses should be hands-on technical or market and trends oriented, commercially neutral and address current issues, Vitkala explains.

While the lectures as such should be non-commercial, all participating companies will be offered opportunities for special presentation tables to display information about their products and companies.

The format of the Conference is very beneficial to all the members of the international glass community who take a special interest in the industry’s developments in China, Jorma Vitkala summarizes.
