GANA Insulating Division Establishes Mission Statement and Goals

The insulating division of the Glass Association of North America, chaired by Arthur Berkowitz of J.E. Berkowitz L.P., has established a mission statement and developed plans for programs that support the commercial architectural glazing industry.

The mission statement is:
"To provide a forum for the exchange of information regarding insulating glass with particular emphasis on commercial glazing."

Since the division is focusing its efforts on the commercial architectural glass industry, it has no intention for substantive crossover with related insulating glass associations. GANA's insulating division plans to work directly with other trade and technical associations within the industry to expand the resource base for architects, specifiers, glazing contractors and others in addressing pertinent issues to the commercial insulating glass industry.

The insulating division marketing committee, chaired by Tracy Rogers of Edgetech IG, also developed a scope statement and made plans for future activities. Activities discussed by the committee include the development of a PowerPoint presentation to be accredited by AIA, as well as working closely with the GANA BEC division on an insulating glass presentation for the 2006 BEC conference.

The insulating technical committee, chaired by Tim Moore of PDC Glass and Metal Services, has also reviewed potential activities and began creating task groups to work on documents regarding insulating glass constructions, sightlines for commercial IG units and IG inspection criteria. The committee is planning to participate in GANA's product labeling committee and will also work toward creating text for the GANA Specifier's Guide to Architectural Glass on IG units.
