Ferro Corp. Glass Systems, a manufacturer of glass coating products
based in Cleveland, has announced that its Washington, Pa., site
is the first Ferro facility and one of the first companies in
the industry to earn the new ISO TS-16949 certification. The certification
indicates that the site complies with a global quality system
that is required by many automotive manufacturers worldwide.
Based on ISO 9001:2000, ISO TS-16949 is a worldwide automotive
quality management standard that, along with customer-specific
requirements, defines quality system requirements for the design
and development, production and installation and service of automotive-related
products. Earning the certification eliminates the need for automotive
suppliers to register their quality management systems to multiple
standards, as required by international automotive companies.
"This certification is critical because our customers requested
that we comply," said Pam Luca, glass systems quality manager.
"We're happy to be among the industry's pioneers in earning
the ISO TS-16949 certification."
