Fatal
Occupational Injuries Decline
According to statistics recently released by the U.S. Department
of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of construction
industry injuries that result in death declined last year.
In 2004, 1234 fatal occupational injuries were reported in the private
sector of the construction industry; the same group reported only
1186 fatal injuries in 2005, a drop of 4 percent.
Overall private industries saw a less than one percent decrease,
with a total 5,188 reported fatal injuries in 2005, compared to
5,229 in 2004.
