Unveils Duralite High-Performance, No-Metal Spacer
Truseal Technologies Inc., a provider of warm edge spacer systems
for insulating glass (IG), formally launched its third generation
no-metal, high-performance warm edge spacer product at GlassBuild
America. Truseal considers the Duralite spacer its most significant
insulating glass product innovation since it introduced the Dura
platform in 2001.
Duralite, which is commercially available now, will be presented
for public display for the first time at Truseal's booth #1828 at
GlassBuild America 2006, Sept. 19-21.
The
patented Duralite design features a composite laminating technology
without the use of metal, resulting in superior thermal and durability
performance. The multilayer, highly efficient spacer uses proven
components, sealants and desiccants to produce improved condensation
resistance, a warmer edge of glass temperature, a smoother surface
appearance and longer-lasting argon gas retention.
"Duralite is a premium spacer product that appeals to feature-oriented
insulating glass producers whose brand images have been shaped by
a track record of quality and performance," said Ric Jackson,
director of marketing and business development, Truseal Technologies.
"Duralite's technical performance in terms of low conductivity,
argon permeability and U-value is unparalleled. At the same time,
Duralite is simple to incorporate into existing automatic or manual
application platforms and its flexibility enables it to be adaptable
to any window design."
Duralite was designed for high-volume production of dual and triple
pane insulating glass units in a one-step process where units are
sealed using heat and compression. Although designed as a single
seal system, Duralite can also be used with a secondary sealant
to create a dual seal unit.
