Dow Corning Experts to Discuss Advances in Sustainable Construction Sealants at Industry Symposium
June 16, 2011
Four experts from Dow Corning will discuss the importance of durability and service life performance of building and construction sealants and adhesives in sustainable construction and energy efficiency practices at this week’s ASTM International “Fourth Symposium on Durability of Building and Construction Sealants and Adhesives” in Anaheim, Calif.
“Architects, builders and developers are increasingly seeking products with longer service life cycles and lower maintenance costs to address demands in sustainable and large-scale building projects,” says Andreas Wolf, a senior scientist for Dow Corning in Germany, and chair of the symposium.
Wolf will discuss preliminary evaluations of a transparent structural silicone adhesive developed for point-fixing in glazing, which combines high transparency, strong adhesion, thermal stability and weatherability.
Other Dow Corning presenters include:
- Larry Carbary, who will present “Durability of Cold Bent Insulating Glass Units;”
- Kelly Broker, who will discuss “Racking Test Evaluation of Silicone Used in a 4-Sided Structural Sealant Glazed Curtain Wall System;” and
- Jinyoung Jung, whowill address “Weathering Evaluation for Structural Silicone Sealants Available in Korea.”
