Disc Laser Glass Cutting System to be on Display
at glasstec 2006
H2B Photonics, a laser company for glass processing, and laser producer ROFIN
will display multiple laser beam absorption (MLBA) cutting
technology for flat glass at glasstec 2006. The technology features
volume absorption of the laser radiation in the glass, and not surface
absorption as with CO2 laser radiation, according to a press release.
The release indicates that the system cuts glass from .2 mm thick
to 24 mm thick in one step, without the need for subsequent breakage.
One specific machine of this kind offered by the companies is the
Turbocut, which uses YAG lasers to cut tubular and hollow
glass "efficiently and free of glass chips," according
to the release.
