Demand
for Advanced Flat Glass Expected to Reach $7.7 Billion by 2010
According to a study by the Freedonia Group, a resurgent growth
in nonresidential building construction and continued rapid growth
in emerging technologies such as smart- and low-maintenance glass
will drive the demand for advanced flat glass to six percent per
year increase over the next four years, reaching an expected $7.7
billion.
The Freedonia Group reports that the study, Advanced Flat Glass,
shows the demand for solar control advanced flat glass products
will be the fastest-growing industry product segment over the next
four years, with "smart glass" (glass that can automatically
alter the level of light transmission) also increasing exponentially
in demand. Also expected to see "above-average" gains
are heads-up display windshields and "self-cleaning" glass
products.
Safety and security glazing, which have been dominant in recent
years, will experience slower growth, the Freedonia Group says.
