Technology Drives Market Demand
PRESS RELEASE: A Tamglass ProBend for crosswise bending will be upgraded at
the 200,000 sq ft² premises of the European Glass Group in London with a
second section for longitudinal bending in October. The high capacity machine
designed for mouldless bending and tempering of demanding large-size architectural
glass will be the only one in the UK with both bending sections and which will
process all types of clear and coated glass.
This upgrade will improve the European Glass Group's capability to serve the
market as a specialist in architectural glass manufacturing. The company aims
to provide a customer-driven operation through offering new high-technology solutions.
This latest investment is another milestone in the12 years of cooperation between
European Glass and Tamglass. "The cooperation between our companies has always
been built on the combination of market drive and the optimum use of the latest
technology to set new standards of quality and a range of solutions. Tamglass
delivers the leading technology to us. This technology enables us to provide our
end customers and the glass trade with industry-leading solutions according to
the best quality standards and in accordance with the regulations set by legislation."
Quality is critical
The use of large-sized curved tempered glass in buildings is increasing. The ProBend
with the combined sections enables European Glass to provide architects and designers
with much better design flexibility and a wider range of solutions. "The
state-of-the-art technology helps us produce curved glass with the same high quality
as flat tempered glass. Furthermore, zero tooling bending enables us to manufacture
larger sizes with greater accuracy and to higher levels of quality compared to
machines that use moulds."
The main criterion in the investment decision was to manufacture larger sizes
and improve the quality: "In special architectural glass manufacturing quality
is especially critical. In our opinion, Tamglass is the leading company in the
market in terms of focusing on quality. That is why we selected Tamglass".
Technology for a wide range of solutions
In 2002 European Glass also installed a 7 m x 3.3 m Tamglass flat glass tempering
plant, the largest in the world. As architectural glass specialists, European
Glass wants to continue to set new standards for the industry, by using the latest
technology to deliver customer solutions. For example, they have installed the
largest IGU line within the UK and a Tamglass flat laminating line for tempered
glass.
The company also has two other Tamglass flat tempering furnaces and a laminating
line operating at its other facilities. European Glass Group are also pleased
to announce the opening of a new manufacturing facility at Swindon UK later this
year.
