The partnership between the Bath Enclosure Manufacturers Association (BEMA)
and Prestige Brands, which sells Comet Bathroom Cleaner, ended recently when Prestige
was purchased by a new investment company that was unwilling to continue the relationship.
"Our 12-year relationship with Comet was mutually beneficial, the use
of our products increased substantially and millions of Comet samples were placed
directly with consumers," BEMA recently reported.
"The association is grateful for Comet's support over the years and looks
forward to welcoming a new partner in the very near future."
BEMA is now in discussions with Lysol, manufacturer of Basin, Tub and Tile,
in regards to participation in its promotional efforts. Chris Birch, BEMA executive
director, said a tentative agreement had been reached with Lysol. He expects the
agreement to be signed within the next two weeks.
BEMA says it is no longer recommending Comet, and members should take necessary
actions to remove the recommendation.
