Arch Aluminum & Glass Recognized for Environmental
Stewardship
The Fort Pierce, Fla.-based mirror division of Arch Aluminum &
Glass has received the 2006 Environmental Stewardship award from
the Fort Pierce Utility Authority (FPUA). The Arch division was
one of only three businesses in the FPUA jurisdiction to receive
the award, which recognizes zero deviation from permitted effluent
concentrations.
"We are thrilled by this honor," says Anthony Lawson, director
of mirror operations for Arch. "Our people work very hard to produce
the best quality mirror in the industry, while also doing the right
thing by our earth."
In 2006 Arch ran more than 12 million square feet of mirror, and
used current technologies to ensure complete compliance with all
requirements and standards. The company is a member of the U.S.
Green Building Council and follows a number of green operating practices,
including water re-circulation and energy and consumable reduction
programs, at its facilities throughout North America.
