The Aluminum Extrusion Technology for Aluminum Profiles Foundation (ET Foundation)
has announced plans for the 2006 International Aluminum Extrusion Design Competition.
The competition's goal is to promote the understanding and use of extruded aluminum
profiles, as well as to highlight innovations and recognize excellence in aluminum
extrusion design.
Aluminum extruders, professional designers, engineers and manufacturers of
aluminum extruded products, as well as students studying design and engineering,
are eligible to enter. Professional entries will be grouped by definition of end
product in various categories; students will compete in their own separate category,
regardless of the end product. Winning entries will demonstrate the benefits of
aluminum extrusions, and can either be a completely new product or an improved
existing product that achieves the following objectives: ease of fabrication and
assembly, cost-effectiveness, innovation, new application capability, customization,
close tolerances, improvement of extrusion processes and likelihood of market
success.
Entry deadline will be in February 2006.
