Issues Simplified Reference Guide for Rigid PVC Profile Certification
A Quick Reference Guide to Rigid Vinyl Profile Certification has
been published by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association
(AAMA) to explain the scope and benefits involved for vinyl extruders
to have their profiles AAMA certified. The four-page brochure provides
an overview of the process and describes the steps involved in producing
certified vinyl profiles for an industry that manufactures over
70 million windows each year for the residential building market,
according to Rich Walker, executive vice president for the association.
All AAMA-certified vinyl windows, one segment of the AAMA Certification
Program (the whole of which boasts almost a 60 percent residential
window market share), must be manufactured using AAMA-certified
vinyl profiles thereby enhancing the process that ensures consistent
quality, explains Walker.
"In today's global market, the peace of mind provided to manufacturers
through this supplier-level certification program cannot be understated.
Knowing that they are getting components of a stated quality on
a consistent basis is key," he said.
The reference guide covers licensee fees and timetables, takes
readers through the various stages of pre-certification, and provides
an overview of the actual sampling and testing processes. A copy
of the guide (product code: VPCG-06) can be downloaded by visiting
the AAMA Online Publications Store.
