Vitro America Makes Glass Systems Available
in BIM
January 15, 2010
Vitro
America announced it now offers building information modeling (BIM)
data on a range of its glass systems, which can be accessed via
its library of BIM objects through the ARCAT® website.
"BIM is rapidly becoming the way architectural design gets
done," says Alice Dickerson, director of sales and marketing
for Vitro America. "The three-dimensional, detailed product
models allow building professionals to quickly specify our products
in their buildings and to share common data among all of the players.
Most design professionals are familiar with ARCAT for finding specification
data and other information to make informed product selections,
so we thought it would be an especially effective platform for placing
our BIM models."
BIM product models are available for the company's America's Envision
glass systems, including all-glass entrances; sliding, stacking,
and clad doors; glass walls; handrail systems; and shower enclosures.
The company says it will continue to add other architectural products
to its library of BIM models, which can be accessed in a range of
file formats such as Autodesk® Revit®, Google SketchUp
and Bentley Architecture.
