 
Viracon Notifies Customers of Sealant Concerns
in Certain IGUs

Viracon in Owatonna, Minn., sent a letter to customers this week
notifying them that they may have received insulating glass units
using a problematic batch of sealant from the companys silicone
supplier, Dow Corning. The safety notice stated that Dow Corning
has received reports from the field of insulating glass units
with air in the secondary seal in units using batches of 982
silicone insulating glass sealant delivered to customers after March
10, 2010.
According to the letter, Dow Corning is conducting a root cause
investigation to determine the source of the air.
