Valencia to Host Second Glass Science in Art and
Conservation Congress
The Universitat de Valencia has announced that the second GLASSAC-08
congress will be held at the Aula Magna of Valencia University Historic
Building in Valencia, Spain, March 5-7, 2008.
The aim of this event is to create a focus on the applications of
glass science in art and conservation. The congress organizers say
that the event will enhance communication among scientists belonging
to different fields with artist and conservators.
The congress will provide an opportunity for these groups to work
together and discuss the latest results in a variety of topics including
Bronze Age glass; Hellenistic glass; Islamic glass; Roman glass;
mould-blown glass; glass decoration and enamel; medieval stained
glass windows; Façon-de-Venise glass; glass in the 18th and
19th century; contemporary glass; glass technology production; raw
materials; dating and provenance of glass; restoration and conservation
of glass; glass corrosion and weathering; and archaeometry of glass.
In addition, an exhibition of "The Language of the Matter,"
by glassworking painter Carlos Muñoz de Pablos, will be held
during the conference.
