Skyline Windows Names Richard Apfel as President
March 8, 2011

Skyline Windows announced the appointment of Richard Apfel as its president. Apfel’s career at Skyline Windows spans 30 years, during which time he served the company in many capacities, starting in sales and project manager and eventually climbing the ranks to executive vice president in 2003.

“We are extremely fortunate to be able to look to Richard's experience and leadership as we address the changing demands of our marketplace,” says Steven Kraus, chief executive officer.

Skyline Windows, formerly known as S. Kraus Inc., began as a family-owned-and-operated roofing and waterproofing business. Apfel is the first non-family member named president in the company’s 90-year history.

“I was honored to be named to this position and value the trust that the Kraus Family has placed in me,” says Apfel. “The Kraus’ have always set a high standard for service, and following this tradition is critical to the future of the company,” he adds.

Prior to joining Skyline Windows in 1981, Apfel worked for Hilton Hotels. He holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Cornell University.
