Windows® Breaks Ground for Addition to Georgia Facility
Simonton Windows has broken ground on a 120,000-square-foot addition for its
Lyons, Ga., manufacturing facility. The addition is expected to
be completed by August 2006 and more than double the space Simonton
currently has at the facility, which is dedicated to the production
of coastal products.
"Our Lyons facility began window production in January of this
year and we already see the need to add more production space,"
said Jody Garrett, vice president of manufacturing for Simonton
Windows. "We've been constantly ramping up operations there
with additional procedures going on-line every few weeks. At the
same time, we recognize that the need for coastal windows and doors
will only strengthen in the future. That's why we decided to move
ahead quickly with the expansion of the facility by starting construction
on an addition."
The ground breaking took place on February 27, 2006 on land next
to the original site. The company expects to add 200 more jobs when
the facility is completed.
