Rick De La Guardia Launches a New Consulting
Engineering Firm
October 13, 2009
Rick De La Guardia, who has been involved with building envelope
product design and analysis for more than 16 years, launched South
Miami-based DLG Engineering Inc. (DLGE) earlier this year. DLGE
is focused on improving building envelope products performance under
hurricane, flood and blast hazards by helping improve building codes
and standards among other things.
Throughout my years as a consultant, having reviewed, designed
and inspected hundreds of projects in the state of Florida, I have
identified many flaws in the design, review method and installation
of the building envelope products that are our first line of defense
during a disaster, says De La Guardia, a native of Miami and
a graduate of the University of Miami. As Floridians, the
integrity of the building envelope structure is, in most cases,
our first line of defense during a hurricane or flood. Our goal
is to provide the community, via our structures, a safer building
envelope. We plan on educating the public, architects, building
officials and building inspectors on the proper design, review and
installation of glazing products through a series of presentations
and seminars.
The company has also created a website (CLICK

free information regarding building envelope products and more.
