Pilkington Introduces New Fire Protection Glass in the US

Pilkington has expanded its Fire Protection Glass product range to include a new 20-minute Pilkington PyrodurTM product. The new product, Pilkington Pyrodur 20-104, has been tested and listed for fire protection by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). Pilkington Pyrodur 20-104 is available in a thickness of 7mm and can be cut and stocked by local glazing contractors for immediate delivery.

According to the company, Pilkington Pyrodur blocks approximately 90-per cent of the radiant heat and holds in place during a fire to protect against smoke, flames and hot gasses. This isolates the fire, which shields the non-fire side from the blaze, reducing damage and allowing time for safe escape and protection for fire fighters and rescue workers. The product can be used for interior applications and is ideal for windows and doors.

Pilkington also offers Pilkington Pyrodur 20-200 in a thickness of 10mm and a complete product range of Pilkington Pyrostop Fire Resistance Glass products for 45, 60, 90 and 120 minutes of fire resistance. All Pilkington Pyrostop and Pilkington Pyrodur products are tested and listed by UL.

Pilkington Pyrostop products pass the required hose stream test and meet CAT II impact safety requirements. Pilkington Pyrodur 20-104 meets CAT I and Pilkington Pyrodur 20-200 meets CAT II impact safety requirements.
