Manufacturers Announce June 5 Price Increase
PPG Industries, Pilkington and AFG are informing customers of a 7-percent price
increase effective June 5. The increase is in addition to current
energy and fuel surcharges.
In a letter to customers dated May 15, Steve Weidner, Pilkington's
vice president of sales and marketing stated, as reasoning for the
increase, "Pilkington continues to face pressure from the cost
increases in raw materials, packaging, labor and associated benefits."
Mark Fanelli, director, sales for PPG Performance Glazings said
in a letter to customers dated May 11, "While we remain committed
to minimizing the impact of cost inflation through internal productivity
improvements, value-engineering initiatives and our supplier productivity
programs, these efforts are not keeping pace with inflation."
Fred Wallin, vice president of marketing with AFG Industries in
Kingsport, Tenn., confirmed they, too, would be increasing prices
as of June 5 by 7 percent.
Confirmation that they, too, would be increasing prices was not
available from Guardian Industries, Cardinal Industries or ACH (formerly
Visteon).
