Penn Named BEC Division Technical Committee Chair
May 13, 2009
The Glass Association of North America's (GANA) Building Envelope
Contractors (BEC) Division announced that Doug Penn of United Glass
Corporation is the new chairman of its Technical Committee. He succeeds
Henry Taylor of Kawneer Company, who was elected as chairman of
the BEC Division earlier this year.
"The
BEC Division Technical Committee has a proven history of success,"
said Penn. "I look forward to guiding the committee as we build
on those successes and continue our valuable contributions to this
industry. I hope that others will see the impact that the Technical
Committee can have and will join our effort."
Penn graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in marketing
and joined PPG Industries as a management trainee. He progressed
through several positions within PPG's branch system, including
contract manager, salesman, branch manager and regional sales manager
for the company's architectural aluminum group. He left PPG to form
PITTCO and manage the new company's fabrication and distribution
center, as well as their marketing group. Penn started with YKK
AP in 1995 when PITTCO shut down to coordinate the development of
the company's installation instructions and help establish the marketing
department. He remained at YKK AP until 2008 when he joined United
Glass Corporation as the company's national architectural product
manager.
The BEC Technical Committee has been responsible for several projects
over the past five years, including the GANA Project Managers Reference
Manual, as well as development of informational bulletins about
shop drawings and more.
