PGC International Announces February Webinar on Ballistics Resistance and Forced Entry Mitigation
February 3, 2010

The Protective Glazing Council (PGC) International announced the second webinar in the 2010 monthly webinar series. The hour-long webinars, created primarily for architects, building owners, specifiers, glazing contractors and others in the architectural community, are free and focus on various industry topics.

The next webinar will be given by John Bush, industry expert formerly of Oldcastle Glass. His presentation will focus on the glass side of ballistics resistance and forced entry mitigation, a growing segment in the protective glazing industry. As a longtime veteran in the industry, Bush will also be able to highlight emerging technologies and trends in this segment, offering potential new solutions to architects and building owners looking to use newer methods to achieve a balance of aesthetics with protection.

“John has given many excellent presentations for PGC International in the past, and this one will offer a unique look at an important part of the industry,” says Brian Pitman, director of marketing and communications for the organization. “His webinar will be a truly independent discussion on security glass for bullet resistant and forced entry resistant applications while attempting to look at some new technologies and emerging trends.”

Bush attended the University of Cambridge and earned a masters degree in mechanical engineering. He later earned an MBA at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He commenced working in glass fabrication more than 20 years ago, where he was the first person to successfully laminate glass polycarbonates in the United Kingdom for architectural applications. Those security products became widely adopted in both architectural and transportation applications in the U.K. When Hurricane Andrew devastated south Florida in 1992, Bush relocated to south Florida to set up a new laminating facility to produce hurricane glass for the newly emerging building codes. For the past seven years Bush was the director of laminated products at Oldcastle Glass.

Bush’s presentation will begin at noon EST, February 26.
