PGC
Annual Symposium Begins Tomorrow
The Protective Glazing Council (PGC) International will host its
annual symposium starting tomorrow at the Hyatt Regency Crystal
City in Arlington, Va. The event is titled "Protective Glazing
in a Green World: Sustainability and Protection," and will
feature a variety of presentations and speakers addressing the convergence
of protective glazing technologies with the ongoing "green"
movement of environmentally friendly buildings.
According to Brian Pitman, PGC director of marketing and communications,
this is the first event PGC has ever done that has incorporated
a "green" theme.
"It's exciting to see the protective glazing industry acknowledging
the ways that these products can be both green and sustainable and
still provide protective performance," says Pitman.
The keynote speaker of the event will be Harvey Bernstein of McGraw-Hill.
Bernstein, who is vice president of industry analytics, alliances
and strategic initiatives, specializes in green building initiatives
and will discuss the future of the green movement in construction.
Other speakers will discus topics such as "green" protection
from the building owner's perspective, as well as other protective
glazing technologies.
The event is free for architects, government officials, building
owners and glazing contractors.
In addition, PGC and the Glass Association of North America will
also hold a joint strategic planning session tomorrow morning.
"It's great to see these two powerful organizations working
together to make the protective glazing market better for both our
members," says Pitman.
