Public Comment Period Opens for National Green Building
Standard
A draft of the National Green Building Standard is now available
for public comment at www.nahbrc.org/gbstandard
through September 24, 2007.
The green building standard is a joint effort between the National
Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the NAHB Research Center and
the International Code Council (ICC). The voluntary green home building
standard, once completed, can be adopted by local green home building
programs or local building departments as a conformance guide, according
to information from NAHB.
Following the initial public comment period, a second public comment
period is planned to start in October 2007 after the Consensus Committee
meets in Washington, D.C. Point values assigned to individual green
building practices in the standard and performance threshold level
values in Chapter 3 will be included in the second public comment
period.Provisions of the standard on additions and renovations also
will be included in the second public comment period.
All comments on the green building standard can be submitted using
the public comment form at www.nahbrc.org/gbstandard.
Questions about the public comment period can be submitted to standards@nahbrc.org.
