UNITED KINGDOM - NSG Group Opens Up New Off-Line
Coater for Public Preview
October 25, 2012
The NSG Group, manufacturers of Pilkington glass, is providing
public tours of its new £36 million off-line coater facility
before it opens for operation in November, according to a company
release. At the company's Cowley Hill site in St Helens, the plant
will offer ultra-thin special coatings for glass applications in
addition to various Pilkington products. Tours include a synopsis
of the company's history as well as the new company's technical
centre at Lathom, which showcases the R&D activity undertaken
to support the group's architectural, automotive and technical glass
businesses.
"The new off-line coater enables us to produce Pilkington K
Glass S here to the United Kingdom," says Andy McDowell,
commercial director, Pilkington United Kingdom. "This is of
great importance in enabling us to meet growing demand from our
customers for this new range. But it is also a key step forward
for us to have the future capability to produce the full range of
our high performance architectural glass products in the United
Kingdom, from right here in St Helens."
"Customers visiting the new coater have all been impressed,"
adds Mike Sharples, coatings plant manager. "It's undoubtedly
a significant investment and one of which the Company and the wider
St Helens community can certainly be proud."
