NFRC
Members Prepare for Monday's Meeting
The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) is holding its
Fall Membership Meeting next week, November 3-6, at the Crowne Plaza
River Front in Jacksonville, Fla., and starting off the week will
be a meeting of the Component Modeling Approach (CMA) technical
task group, concurrent with meeting of NFRC's 300-301 task group.
In addition to the meetings set to occupy members' time, meeting
organizers have a few special activities planned. Deke Smith, executive
director of the buildingSMART alliance, a part of the National
Institute of Building Sciences, will be speaking during the Opening
Session on Monday. He's set to discuss how door, window and skylight
manufacturers will interface with building information modeling-a
topic especially relevant to the industry as it relates to CMA,
according to show organizers.
Another first will be a presentation of the member of the year
award in recognition of a member's contributions in support of the
NFRC mission, among other things.
One thing that meeting organizers promise will be different this
time around is the motion process. As a response to member requests
and in an effort to streamline the motion process, NFRC staff will
work directly with meeting attendees to type motions as they are
spoken rather than relying on the familiar pink motion form.
