Measuring Residual Stresses in Glass Products Focus of ASTM International Training Course

"Measuring Residual Stresses in Glass Products," a new
technical and professional training course sponsored by ASTM International,
focuses on using non-destructive photoelastic methods of stress
analysis in quality control processes to improve yield, productivity,
and help prevent costly field failures. The course is scheduled
to take place September 29, 2009, at ASTM International headquarters
in West Conshohocken, Pa.
Designed for glass industry professionals, particularly those working
in research and development and quality control, this new course
covers a variety of topics including principles of stress measurement
in glass products; heat-treated glass applications; container and
specialty glass applications; and verification, maintenance and
calibration of equipment. Students will have the opportunity to
gains hands-on experience with testing samples they bring to the
class.
