Major Trends Driving Business in India's Construction Market
April 8, 2010
Produced in collaboration with CRISIL Ltd. (a Standard & Poor's
company), the Confederation of Indian Industry and the India Green
Building Council, a new report from McGraw-Hill provides new insights
on construction opportunities based on key trends, including green
building, infrastructure development, and commercial and institutional
buildings. The brief is titled India's Growing Construction Marketplace:
Trends Driving Business Opportunities.
"India is one of the fastest-growing construction markets
in the world," said Harvey Bernstein, vice president, global
thought leadership and business development, McGraw-Hill Construction.
"With a rapidly urbanizing population and growing middle class,
we see demand for new projects across nearly all areas of construction.
This report reveals the tremendous opportunity that exists in India-for
both domestic and foreign firms who can offer the goods, services
and expertise to help India successfully meet their construction
needs."
In the India SmartMarket Executive Brief, thought-leaders share
their perspectives on India's growing construction marketplace and
identify opportunities by shedding light on major trends such as
master-planned communities, mixed-use developments, special economic
zones and infrastructure construction projects.
The report identifies several key trend areas of importance, including
green building. Spurred by the introduction of the LEED-India rating
system as well as investor and occupier demands for more energy-
and cost-efficient living and workspaces, green building is emerging
as a major trend in Indian construction.
