Lyle Hill Announces Retirement from MTH Industries
April 11, 2011

Lyle R. Hill, president of MTH Industries of Chicago, has announced he will retire this month. His last day in the office will be April 15.

Hill began his career as a plate department foreman for the old Tyler Hippach Glass Company in 1971, which was owned by Globe Glass & Mirror. He became the general manager of Tyler Hippach in 1976 and its president in 1981.

In July 1983, Globe Glass bought Midwest Iron and merged the companies to form MTH Industries. Five years later, a group of senior managers led by Hill purchased the company from Globe Glass and continued to grow the business nationwide.

Today, MTH Industries is generally regarded as one of the best run and technically-competent contract glazing companies in the country and has completed many high-profile jobs including the Willis Tower Ledge.
