Glass Co. Recognized as Small Business of the Month
Lafayette Glass Company in Lafayette, Ind., was recognized as a
"Small Business of the Month" earlier this year by the Lafayette
Chamber of Commerce. To qualify for the recognition, businesses
must be under current ownership at least three years, employ 25
or fewer and be active in the Chamber and community. As president
Dennis Clark revealed, Lafayette Glass had that criteria more than
covered.
"We've been in business since 1946 and we've been a member of the
Chamber of Commerce for at least 50 years that I'm aware of," Clark
says. "We're involved in the community; we support a lot of youth
organizations, baseball teams for boys, softball teams for girls,
etc."
Clark notes that this is the first time the company has been recognized
by the Chamber of Commerce for this award, but it is not the first
honor the company has received. In 2003 USGlass sister publication
AGRR inducted Clark into the Glass and Metal Hall of Fame™
(CLICK

Third Annual Best Companies to Work For list in 2002. (CLICK

What sets the company apart? With regards to this recent award,
Clark says, "I think that longevity in business certainly has a
lot to do with it, and supporting the community in all types of
endeavors made us worthy of the award."
Winning businesses are honored at receptions hosted by award sponsor
Lafayette Savings Bank. The Small Business of the Year will be chosen
at the end of the year.
