Kawneer Announces LEED Planning Tool
Kawneer
has announced a new LEED certification brochure/planner containing
information about products that will help earn the highest possible
environmental rating. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design) Green Building Rating System is a voluntary, consensus-based
national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
Using the system, building owners and architects can measure their
success in environmental stewardship.
The Kawneer planner informs architects, design professionals and
owners about Kawneer products and systems relevant to LEED requirements.
It includes details about potential points available to earn the
highest possible environmental rating and identifies the four major
areas of LEED certification that pertain to Kawneer products and
services: Energy and Atmosphere; Materials and Resources; Indoor
Environmental Quality; and Innovation and Design Process.
As a member of the U.S.Green Building Council (USGBC), Kawneer says
it is dedicated to creating the kind of products and systems that
help comply with its standards and promote integrated, whole-building
design practices. Its product lines are comprised in large part
of two of the Earth's most plentiful recyclables: aluminum and glass.
Beyond recyclables, Kawneer has a wide range of products that have
high thermal performance characteristics while allowing the maximum
amounts of sunlight into the building. In addition to energy savings,
Kawneer's photovoltaic (PV) integrated products even help generate
energy.
