JEB Goes Green with Solar Roof System
March 3, 2010
JE
Berkowitz LP (JEB) announced it has awarded Ray Angelini Inc. (RAI)
a contract to install a solar panel roof system on its Pedricktown,
N.J., manufacturing facility. The solar engineering firm is midway
through the process of installing 7,200 U.S.-manufactured solar
panels, covering the expanse of its 180,000 square-foot plant roof.
The new solar array is expected to produce more than 2 million kilowatt
hours of electricity per year and save approximately 25 percent
of the manufacturing plant's electric power expense annually.
The project is funded by a combination of resources from several
institutions and agencies, including a grant from the Federal Government
through the American Recovery Act program. JEB is also working with
the State of New Jersey on the sale or trade of Solar Renewal Energy
Certificates--the`S-RECs' program. In addition, Citizens Bank has
committed to provide financing for the remainder of the project.
"We are a visionary company and proud of our commitment to
reduce our annual energy consumption," says Arthur Berkowitz,
president of JEB. "We have always, and will continue, to do
our part for the environment and be a leader in the industry in
green initiatives."
