Independent Testing Proves Intercept ULTRA Matches
Thermal Efficiency of Foam Spacers
In recent independent testing conducted by Architectural Testing,
Inc. (ATI), a vinyl window using the improved Intercept spacer made
with stainless alloy (branded Intercept ULTRA) was proven to match
the thermal efficiency of a window made with a foam spacer, according
to a press release by GED Integrated solutions, manufacturer of
fully integrated insulating glass and vinyl window and door fabrication
ATI performed both simulation modeling and physical testing in accordance
with AAMA 1503-98. Both windows registered a U-factor of 0.27 and
a Condensation Resistance Factor (CRF) of 76.
"Intercept ULTRA's true value comes from the proven performance
benefits that have led to the lowest callbacks in the industry,
durability and longevity, the best gas retention, strongest corners
available and quality aesthetics," said Ron Auletta, chief
executive officer and president of GED Integrated Solutions. "Knowing
these benefits come with thermal efficiency proven equal to anything
else on the market gives manufacturers a clear choice for the premium
Auletta also notes that manufacturers are realizing between $5 and
$7 in labor and material savings per window with Intercept ULTRA.
Intercept ULTRA is made with a third-generation stainless alloy
on an improved machinery and software system designed to work with
the GED Intercept spacer manufacturing process. More than 10 billion
feet of Intercept spacer is currently in use with fewer call-backs
than any other system.
Intercept ULTRA's performance advantages include:
- Patented U-shaped construction that flexes with temperature
change to increase seal life and durability
- Best gas retention due to the industry's longest moisture vapor
transmission (MVT) path
- The straightest grids, locked securely in place to match from
one window to the next and never shift
- Patented web corner system and four layers of protection to
provide the strongest seal at the corner.
The Intercept ULTRA .0077 gauged stainless alloy is available in
a full range of strip widths to make spacer sizes from 7/32 to 7/8
wide. It is exclusively distributed by Berlin Metals, LLC.
