INDIA Use of Glass in Green Buildings
Expected to Grow
May 16, 2012
The use of glass in both green buildings and the solar photovoltaic
industry is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years, according
to a new report from the All India Glass Manufacturers' Federation,
which is based in New Delhi.
"The use of glass has increased lately as new buildings seek
to bring energy savings," writes the group. "Its usage
has become integral part of new buildings as opposed to conventional
approach to construction where brick and cement were mainly used
and glass usage was relatively low."
Sanjay Ganjoo, chief operating officer of Asahi India Glass Ltd.
and vice president of the federation, says the growing use of glass
complements the nation's government strategy and its prime minister's
mission to encourage energy conservation.
