Glass Import-Export Price Index Sees Little Change in August

The United States Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics has released the August 2007 import and export price indexes. The import price index decreased 0.3 percent in August, following a 1.3 percent advance in July. In contrast, export prices rose 0.2 percent in August after edging down 0.1 percent the previous month.

The import index for glass and glassware rose 0.5 percent from July, to 111.8 in August. The export price index was up a meager 0.1 percent from July to August, coming in at 99.2 in August. Imports of aluminum and aluminum products showed the most gain with a slight 1.3 percent rise in August to 145.4, compared to 143.6 in July. Only a 0.6 percent increase in aluminum exports was noted.
