Hegla issued a statement this afternoon on the death of the 68-year-old founder of its U.S. operations:

Peter founded Hegla’s U.S. operations in 1995 and had led the global company’s growth into the U.S. market until his retirement a few months ago. Although semi-retired, Peter was still actively involved in both sales and product development projects and was scheduled to retire June 30th of this year.

Peter is survived by his wife, Barbara, who confirmed that no public funeral service is planned. She will hold a small gathering with a few close friends at the house, which is what Peter would have wanted.

According to the company, Barbara Weith has requested that anyone wishing to send a memorial in her husband’s name should contact the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), of which Weith was an avid member. CLICK HERE to reach the non-profit organization.
