Week 2006 Underway in Dana Point, Calif.
Glass Week, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year,
is taking place this week at the Marriott Laguna Cliffs Resort &
Spa in Dana Point, Calif. Sponsored by the Glass Association of
North America (GANA), the event offers technical, educational and
networking activities.
Technical sessions took place Saturday, January 28 and Sunday,
January 29. General sessions begin today and will include a keynote
presentation from Jeff Thredgold, CSP. In his presentation he offers
a humorous tour of the U.S. economy, financial markets, education,
employment, competition, government, the global economy, technology
and the future.
Other presentation topics for today include China in the glass
marketplace and a look at some of the new products and technologies
for the glass industry.
The GANA flat glass manufacturers division will meet later this
afternoon, and a squaretable discussion will also take place. Scheduled
discussion topics include rising energy costs and a look at a new
industry employment tool, www.glassjobsearch.com.
Glass Week runs until Wednesday this week.

Divisions met on Sunday.
One of today's hot topics was the What's
Next for the Chinese Glass Industry seminar, given by Jim Gresehover
of Guardian Industries.
